ESTIEM Local Group Sofia was represented by its delegates, students at the Technical University – Sofia – Didi Todorova, Dostin Ivanov, Ivan Dimitrov, and Tanya Petkova, at the 70th anniversary General Assembly of ESTIEM, which took place in Calabria, Italy, from May 5 to 11, 2025. Important decisions were made at the assembly, supporting the organization's growth and encouraging students' pursuit of learning and development.

Council Meeting (CM) is the largest event in the ESTIEM network, bringing together over 250 students from all 79 local groups in Europe and beyond. This year, it was held in the beautiful town of Rende, part of the Calabria region in Italy. The General Assemblies took place at the University of Calabria, which has the largest student campus in all of Italy with over 30,000 students.
At the assemblies, delegates voted on several key topics for the progress of the organization. These included the election of the 36th Central ESTIEM Board, a new regional distribution of local groups, and the selection of a destination for the Spring Council Meeting in 2026 – Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey. The next Autumn CM will take place in Nis, Serbia, in November 2025.
The delegates were highly impressed by the warm Italian hospitality, which began with a skilled jazz concert by master guitarists from the Pietro Lazazzara Gypsy Jazz Quintet, continued with long-awaited friendly meetings among participants, and concluded with a captivating beach day in the resort town of Tropea. This palette of experiences and emotions created many valuable memories and motivation for future work.
ESTIEM is a non-governmental organization uniting over 60,000 students from engineering and technical disciplines across Europe. Its focus is on their development in multiple aspects and combining engineering knowledge with managerial skills. ESTIEM LG Sofia was founded in 2001 as an Industrial Engineering Club at TU – Sofia and is the only ESTIEM group in Bulgaria. Currently, our organization consists of over 30 motivated members. We organize diverse local and international events, providing students at the university with opportunities for expression and skill development, as well as the chance to travel and discover new cultures.
