Within the exhibition The traveling exhibition “Beyond the laboratory – the scientific revolution DO IT YOURSELF” the SPARKS project, the Center for Research and Analysis, in partnership with the Technical University of Sofia (TU-Sofia) through the Faculty of Mechanical and Technological Engineering, is pleased to invite you to a scientific coffee discussion to meet with university experts who collaborate with medical teams and succeed in improving our healthcare by using innovative technological and methodological solutions that allow computer technologies to become a direct participant in the entire process of creating dental and bone implants with personalized shapes and sizes for each patient. These innovations are evident both in the way computer models are formed, replacing manual methods, and in the ability to create implants from difficult-to-process materials such as titanium, cobalt-chromium, and ceramics – a feat not yet achieved in Bulgaria. Thus, collaboration between doctors and engineers shortens time, reduces costs, and significantly improves accuracy and fit when creating and manufacturing personalized implants for each patient.
The theme of the event is "Digital Construction of Dental and Bone Implants" and will address key issues such as: Why is it necessary to introduce new technologies into
medicine? How could they help our healthcare system and how do they affect citizens?
The SPARKS project, supported by the European Union (EU), is led by the pan-European network of museums and science centers Ecsite, bringing together 33 organizations from 29 European countries. SPARKS aims to bridge the gap between the rapid development of scientific innovations in medicine and healthcare and society through an interactive traveling exhibition, which since 2016 has been touring all 28 countries and is accompanied by over 230 accompanying activities. The exhibition was created by the Science Museum in London and its main goal is to show the participation of citizens in solving public interest issues in the field of healthcare and technology.
