The European Technological University (EUt+) held „EUt+ Week“ in Paphos, Cyprus, from November 13th to 17th, 2023. A delegation from the Technical University - Sofia, led by the rector, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, participated in the working meeting. This is the third iteration of the event in Cyprus, notable for its premiere in the charming city of Paphos. Serving as the official start of the second phase, EUt+ Accelerate, the initiative secures significant funding of 14.4 million euros until 2027 through „European Universities“ of the Erasmus+ programme.
The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) demonstrated excellent performance as the host university. CUT brought together 120 representatives from nine campuses of the European Technological University (EUt+) alliance. A historic moment was the inaugural partnership, marked by the participation of a 12-member delegation from the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (UNICAS), signifying a significant expansion as the ninth partner in the alliance. „EUt+ Week in Paphos“ was held in the new modern building of the School of Administration, Tourism, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship at CUT in Paphos.
During „EUt+ Week in Paphos“, key program visions were unveiled, shaping the strategic trajectory of EUt+ Accelerate. The week began with the launch of „EUt+ Accelerate“: Engaging thematic presentations outlined key themes for research, innovation, and education, providing a comprehensive plan for the alliance's strategic focus.
The presentation of the eleven work packages in the second phase by EUt+ General Secretary Timothy Turi laid a solid foundation for EUt+ Accelerate, outlining the strategic vision for the coming years. The Rectors' Board discussions critically reviewed the outcomes of the First Phase, laying the groundwork for informed decision-making within the alliance. The legal study took center stage, as representatives from EUt+ and other alliances - ESEU, EGAI, Uni-GR, EUCOR - participated in discussions with the STYX programme, gaining valuable insights into legal aspects and regulatory frameworks.
The presence of online experts was notable, with project officer and policy advisor Tine Delva contributing valuable ideas during the introductory phase. This holistic approach to program visions underscores EUt+'s commitment to charting a transformative path in European higher education.
In connection with Paphos EUt+ Week, CUT celebrated not only 20 years of academic achievements but also its active role in European cooperation. A highlight of this celebration was the presentation of the new logo during a press conference led by CUT Rector Panayiotis Zafiridis.
The joint efforts of the nine partner universities highlight the resolute commitment to shaping the future of European higher education. EUt+ stands at the forefront of transformative change, offering a unique and dynamic educational experience.
