The highest score is required for admission to the "Computer Systems" specialty, followed by "Cybersecurity", announced Prof. Ivan Králov.
The 2022 applicant campaign has ended. Interest in the Technical University of Sofia is higher compared to the previous one. "Compared to last year, there are over 20% more applicants, with a more even distribution across specialties. The most sought-after are those in computer and software engineering. There is demand for those in automotive electronics and aviation engineering. We have created new specialties - intelligent systems, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity. For cybersecurity, over 10 people compete for one place. The highest score is required for admission to the Computer Systems specialty, followed by Cybersecurity," said the rector of the Technical University, Prof. Ivan Králov, in the studio of "Bulgaria Morning". He emphasized that interest in technical specialties is additionally motivated by the business sector. Traditionally, 90% of graduates start working in their specialty with a high salary. This is a guarantee of the requirements and quality of education received by our students," added Prof. Králov to Bulgaria ON AIR. The construction of the Center of Excellence continues at the university. So far, over 70 million BGN have been invested. "It represents a synergy between almost 20 institutions - 3 campuses are planned, the first one is ready - in "Student City". There are 16 laboratories with top equipment. Several of the goals have already been achieved. Part of the equipment is world-class, part of the machines have been delivered, and we are developing the technologies. A telling fact for us is that three of the top graduates from our cohorts remain to work in this Center," stated the rector of TU-Sofia. The business sector also has great interest, and specific projects are being worked on in the Center of Excellence. Part of the developments have intellectual property that is patented. The Technical University is a member of the European Technological University. "The idea is to become a confederal university by 2030. Students will be trained in one campus, and at least 2 semesters in another campus. The goal is to receive a European diploma, to be competitors of American and Chinese universities. We are among the leaders in this consortium regarding scientific research, we have established knowledge transfer offices. Tens of mobilities are carried out annually. The university's slogan is "With thought for the person," Prof. Ivan Králov also said.
