Students will work in a high-tech laboratory – an NVIDIA training center – and will conduct their educational practice in a fully renovated foundry laboratory!

The partnership with NVIDIA is the next step towards implementing cutting-edge technologies to support students and researchers at the Technical University – Sofia.
The laboratory, the first of its kind in Bulgaria, is equipped with 12 powerful computer stations, giving students access to the full range of resources and software from the American technology leader. Two other companies, ASBIS and PERSY, are also partners in the initiative.

The center will be used for both training and conducting engineering simulations and scientific research.
At the opening, Rector Prof. Georgi Venkov stated that TU-Sofia continues to demonstrate its business orientation and its work on building upon students' knowledge and skills.

Ivan Mihaylov – CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria and member of the Board of Trustees of TU-Sofia, emphasized that the partnership with NVIDIA is an excellent example of how students should be trained in an economy based on artificial intelligence, so that businesses can rely on highly qualified personnel.

What do the high-tech laboratory and the foundry laboratory have in common? According to the Dean of FIT, Prof. Dr. Sc. (Corresponding Member) Georgi Todorov, artificial intelligence will increasingly enter the foundry industry. AI-driven technology allows for casting modern, complex components for the automotive industry.

The renovated foundry laboratory in Block 3 of TU-Sofia will replace the old one, which was completely destroyed due to the construction of the new high-tech hall 'Tech Arena'. Its restoration took almost 2 years.
It has 2 furnaces and a completely new control system. The entire system is much more economical, energy consumption has been reduced by more than 4 times at the same productivity. There are rooms for soldering, artistic metal casting, and testing of molding mixtures.

Students from almost all faculties of the university pass through the laboratory of the Department of Materials Science and Materials Technology at the Faculty of Industrial Technologies for educational practice.
