Our university is one of the first, which underwent pilot accreditation, even during the first phase of the project "Preliminary Study for Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions in Bulgaria" (November 1996 – May 1997).
The presence of official recognition, accreditation by a specialized state body is a necessary condition for the legitimacy of any higher education institution in the country. It ensures monitoring and control of the quality of educational, scientific research, and artistic activities, the participation of academic staff and students in these activities, the maintenance, management, and development of the material base, etc. throughout the entire accreditation period. Therefore, it is very important for us to achieve ever better results in our work.
The first regular institutional accreditation , with an assessment of "very good" , was obtained on 18.02.1999 for a period of five years. This was followed by institutional accreditation on 22.12.2005 for a period of six years, with an assessment of "very good". The institutional accreditation for the period 14.06.2012 – 26.07.2018 received a score of 9.50, which is the highest score ever obtained by a higher education institution in Bulgaria to date.
The current institutional accreditation from 26.07.2018, for a period of 6 years, has a score of 9.56.
