By its nature and content, the specialization "Thermal Engineering and Nuclear Energy" is both traditional and always relevant, due to the enduring need of humanity for thermal and electrical energy, produced in reliable, safe, environmentally friendly, and energy-efficient conventional and nuclear power plants.

Admission is carried out according to the general rules for admission of students to the Bachelor's degree at the Technical University - Sofia

The training in the specialty "Thermal and Nuclear Energy" is structured and conducted in such a way as to provide students with general and specialized engineering knowledge, including:

• General education and engineering knowledge in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, computing and programming, mechanics, strength of materials, electrical engineering and electronics, fluid mechanics, technical thermodynamics, and heat transfer
• Knowledge of mechanical and energy engineering materials, the basics of standardization, and requirements for the development and formatting of technical documentation
• Knowledge of methods and their application in the calculation and design of thermal and nuclear energy systems and facilities, fuel processing and utilization technology, heating and gas supply, and secondary energy resources
• Knowledge of the basics of economics and management of thermal and nuclear energy enterprises, occupational health and safety, and environmental protection
• Knowledge of technological processes and their management in main and auxiliary facilities of thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, heating and gas supply systems, and industrial thermal energy utilities
• Knowledge of methods for monitoring, analyzing, and managing the energy efficiency of thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, heating and gas supply systems, and industrial thermal energy utilities

The "Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering" specialization prepares engineering personnel for the following types of activities:

• Operational management and operation of technological processes and facilities in thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, industrial thermal energy systems, heating and gas supply systems
• Design, construction, installation, commissioning, and preparation for operation of machines, units, and systems in energy (conventional, nuclear, industrial), heating, gas supply, and energy machinery engineering
• Analysis and search for new technical solutions for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly utilization of nuclear, conventional, and renewable energy resources, as well as for improving reliability and nuclear safety during the operation of energy facilities.

Successful graduates of the specialization are sought-after specialists as engineers in the operational management of energy companies (thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, heating systems), industrial production (operation of energy facilities), and commercial and representative activities of domestic and foreign companies. Other users of personnel are state institutions and agencies related to energy (Commission for Energy and Water Regulation, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Environment and Waters, Nuclear Regulatory Agency, etc.), electricity trading companies, engineering, design, and consulting firms in the field of thermal and nuclear power engineering.
