Doctoral Program Characteristics: Electrical Materials and Cable Engineering The training at the Technical University - Sofia (TU-Sofia) in all doctoral programs, including the doctoral program "Electrical Engineering Materials and Cable Technology," is conducted in a strictly regulated manner in compliance with the requirements of the Higher Education Act, the Act on the Development of Academic Staff in the Republic of Bulgaria, the Regulation for the Application of the Act on the Development of Academic Staff in the Republic of Bulgaria, and the regulatory framework of TU-Sofia related to the training of doctoral students at TU-Sofia, systematized in Appendix_1 of this self-assessment report. Цelite which should be achieved during the training of doctoral students, are as follows:improving the qualifications of doctoral students;their preparation as highly qualified specialists for the industry;their formation as highly qualified university teachers;their development as competent, knowledgeable, and capable scientists.Achieving these goals is possible through the successful resolution of the following tasks:compliance with legal requirements in education;the education and counseling of doctoral students shall be carried out by highly qualified habilitated lecturers;the material base shall be continuously improved and modernized to intensify the research process;the application of information technologies for searching, accumulating, and processing information and data;maintaining a strong connection, close interaction, and responding to the growing interest of firms in the manufacturing and service sectors in applied research related to the objects of the specialty. The requirements for the preparation of specialists with an educational and scientific degree of "Doctor" under the doctoral program "Electrical Engineering Materials and Cable Technology" are:● to have excellent training in the field of physics and theoretical electrical engineering;● to possess specific knowledge in the field of Electrical Engineering Materials and Cable Technology;● to have knowledge in the field of electrophysical and electrochemical phenomena;● to have knowledge in the field of technologies for obtaining new materials and coatings;● to have knowledge in modern technologies for extrusion of insulating compounds;● in-depth and creative understanding and use of literature in the specific field in which the dissertation topic is formulated;● demonstration of creative thinking;● acquisition of a high level of skills, knowledge, and qualifications for theoretical and/or experimental research work.
