Doctoral Program Characteristics: Electrical Power Plants and SubstationsThe training at the Technical University - Sofia (TU-Sofia) in all doctoral programs, including the doctoral program "Electrotechnologies," is conducted in strict compliance with the requirements of the Higher Education Act, the Act on the Development of Academic Staff in the Republic of Bulgaria, the Regulation for the Application of the Act on the Development of Academic Staff in the Republic of Bulgaria, and the regulatory framework of TU-Sofia related to the training of doctoral students at TU-Sofia, systematized in Appendix_1 of this self-assessment report. Celite which should be achieved during the training of doctoral students, are as follows:improving the qualifications of doctoral students;their preparation as highly qualified specialists for the industry;their formation as highly qualified teachers for HEIs;their development as competent, knowledgeable, and capable scientists.Achieving these goals is possible through the successful resolution of the following tasks:compliance with legal requirements in education;the education and counseling of doctoral students shall be carried out by highly qualified habilitated professors;the material base shall be continuously improved and modernized to intensify the research process;the application of information technologies for searching, accumulating, and processing information and data;maintaining a strong connection, close interaction, and responding to the growing interest of companies in the manufacturing and service sectors in applied research related to the objects of the specialty. The requirements for the preparation of specialists with an educational and scientific degree of "Doctor" under the doctoral program "Electric Power Plants and Substations" are:● to have excellent training in the field of theoretical electrical engineering and processes in EPS;● to possess specific knowledge in the field of Electric Power Plants and Substations and technological systems;● to have training in the field of protection systems in EPS;● to have knowledge in the field of automatic control systems for processes with individual objects of EPS;● to have knowledge in the field of remote control systems for processes and devices in EPS;● to have knowledge of modern technologies for adaptive reconfiguration of tasks and objectives of control systems in EPS in smart grid;● in-depth and creative knowledge and use of literature in the specific field in which the dissertation topic is formulated;● demonstration of creative thinking;● acquisition of a high level of skills, knowledge, and qualifications for theoretical and/or experimental research work.
