Doctoral Program Characteristics: Electrical Networks and SystemsThe training at the Technical University - Sofia (TU-Sofia) in all doctoral programs, including the doctoral program "ELECTRICAL NETWORKS AND SYSTEMS", is conducted in a strictly regulated manner in compliance with the requirements of the Higher Education Act, the Act on the Development of Academic Staff in the Republic of Bulgaria, the Regulation for the Application of the Act on the Development of Academic Staff in the Republic of Bulgaria, and the regulatory framework of TU-Sofia related to the training of doctoral students at TU-Sofia, systematized in Appendix_1 of this self-assessment report. Цelite which must be achieved during the training of doctoral students, and are as follows:improving the qualifications of doctoral students;their preparation as highly qualified specialists for the industry;their formation as highly qualified university teachers;their development as competent, knowledgeable, and capable scientists. Achieving these goals is possible through the successful resolution of the following tasks:compliance with legal requirements in education;the education and counseling of doctoral students shall be carried out by highly qualified habilitated lecturers;the material base shall be continuously improved and modernized in order to intensify the research process;the application of information technologies for searching, accumulating, and processing information and data;maintaining a strong connection, close interaction, and responding to the growing interest of companies in the manufacturing and service sectors in applied research related to the objects of the specialty. The requirements for the preparation of specialists with an educational and scientific degree of "Doctor" under the doctoral program "ELECTRICAL NETWORKS AND SYSTEMS" are:● to have excellent training in the field of theoretical electrical engineering;● to possess specific knowledge in the field of ELECTRICAL NETWORKS AND SYSTEMS, their components and subsystems;● to have training in the field of design of electrical networks and systems;● to have knowledge in the field of operation and planning of the operation of electrical networks and systems.● to have knowledge in the field of automation and protection of electrical networks and systems;● to have knowledge in the field of development and economics of electrical networks and systems;● in-depth and creative knowledge and use of literature in the specific field in which the topic of the dissertation is formulated;● demonstration of creative thinking;● acquisition of a high level of skills, knowledge, and qualifications for theoretical and/or experimental research work.
