New approaches to training and behavior adaptation of intelligent robots in shared workspaces
The project focuses on the development of algorithms for training and adapting intelligent behaviors of autonomous robots. The goal is to achieve higher functional capabilities of the robots and their effective application in a shared working environment by using approaches and technologies related to artificial intelligence, cyber-physical systems, rich sensor information, digital models and simulations, large data sets (big data).

About the project
The project focuses on the development of algorithms for training and adapting intelligent behaviors of autonomous robots. The goal is to achieve higher functional capabilities of robots and their effective application in a shared working environment by using approaches and technologies related to artificial intelligence, cyber-physical systems, rich sensor information, digital models and simulations, and large data sets (big data).
This project will contribute both to the accumulation of research experience and experimental results, and to the formation of systematic approaches and the development of a more accurate vision regarding the possibilities for robots to more freely enter human society and share a common workspace.
The considerations are directed both towards concepts for the use of collaborative robots in industry and towards service robots operating in the human living environment.
To achieve this goal, several important problems standing in the way of robots' broader entry into a shared environment with humans will be examined:

The considerations are directed both towards concepts for the use of collaborative robots in industry and towards service robots operating in the human living environment.
To achieve this goal, several important problems standing in the way of robots' broader entry into a shared environment with humans will be examined:
- Use of natural interfaces for communication between human and robot. This type of communication (through recognition of speech commands, gestures, emotions, guiding movements, touch) is key to expanding the possibilities for using robots in a shared environment with humans, where the robot will need to interact not only with a trained and equipped operator but also with people who are not specially prepared and do not possess a specialized interface.
- Research on algorithms for training and adaptation and the possibilities for their application in the management of robots in a shared environment. The project proposal examines the following two problem-oriented directions:
- Algorithms for training and adaptation aimed at increasing flexibility and expanding the class of tasks performed by the robot.
- Algorithms for training and adaptation aimed at improving basic technical characteristics of the robot such as: execution accuracy, movement speed, etc.
- Research on algorithms for managing multi-agent robotic systems. The consideration of robots in a shared workspace includes the case when the working environment is shared by several robots. Algorithms enabling interaction between robots sharing a common workspace will be investigated.
