About the project
The objective of the project proposal is the adaptation, development, and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques for modeling, design, management, and operation of power electronic devices (PEDs) and systems.
The proposed integrated approach is oriented towards the entire lifecycle of PEDs and is inherently comprehensive, as it combines classical and innovative methods, enabling the co-design of power and control parts. In this way, it acquires a fundamental character and is applicable to a wide range of power electronic converters and systems. On the other hand, its implementation places emphasis on improving the operation of these devices. The use of artificial intelligence, combined with basic information and communication technologies, shortens the duration of the PEDs and systems creation process, guarantees their performance indicators, and improves the quality of prototypes. The main tasks of the project are summarized in the following areas:
1. Improving the performance of basic and industrial devices and technologies in industry, electrical systems (renewable energy sources, clean energy), and transport (including electric transport), by using: highly efficient means for conversion and storage of electrical energy; electronic technological systems for welding, soldering, induction heating; intelligent drives, UPS systems, non-polluting and efficient vehicles, eco-friendly energy sources, etc.;
2. Increasing the capacity and establishing the leading position of the base organization in scientific research in the field of PEDs and systems;
3. Supporting the implementation of the set goals in the priority challenges and policies for the development of scientific research in Bulgaria and the EU (Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe), such as: "secure, clean, and efficient energy", "intelligent, environmentally friendly, and integrated transport", "green and circular economy", "actions related to climate, environment, resource efficiency, and raw materials", "energy and energy efficiency; efficient utilization of natural resources", "increasing the competitiveness and productivity of the economy", "social development, addressing demographic issues, and reducing poverty", "improving the quality of life", "environmental protection, urban environment, and transport, etc.
