Explore possibilities for enhancing the cybersecurity of systems in Industry 4.0 through artificial intelligence
In the development of the digital society in recent years, the so-called digital transformation of industry has emerged – a result of the increasingly widespread adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, 3D printing, cloud solutions, and cognitive technologies based on artificial intelligence. All these technologies collectively form "Industry 4.0," driven not only by design and manufacturing but also by the connections between the latter and the market and consumers.

About the project
In the development of the digital society in recent years, the so-called digital transformation of industry has manifested itself – a result of the increasingly widespread penetration of the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, 3D printing, cloud solutions, and cognitive technologies based on artificial intelligence. All these technologies collectively form "Industry 4.0", which is conditioned not only in design and production but also in the connections of the latter with the market and consumers.
In Industry 4.0, achieving a sufficiently high level of cybersecurity is of paramount importance for the reliable and efficient operation of industrial systems. This is especially evident in so-called "critical infrastructures" that provide vital functions for the economy and society (energy, transport, etc.) and are a key aspect of national security. Modern attacks via the internet are complex, organized, and use a wide range of "modern persistent threats" with a prolonged hidden period. They are often directed at high-value but poorly protected targets/objects and can easily escalate from a cyber incident to a cyber crisis.
The results of the project will be based on the analysis of cyber-attacks specific to industrial systems and the application of AI methods to counteract them or their timely localization. An optimal approach for the preventive detection of cyber-attacks will be proposed.
All scientific results from these activities will lead to new knowledge in the field of information and communication technologies for increasing the level of cybersecurity of industrial systems in Industry 4.0 through artificial intelligence.
